Spitter Mechanism

What's a spitter mech? Basically it is a pneumatic air valve and some 14/ OD air/water tubing and some air fittings. An air tank/compressor supplies the air. The air valve is triggered by 12 vdc or 120 vac by triggered switch or prop controller, and when triggered, allows air and water to be pushed through the output hose. A fine spray nozzle is placed on the output tube to create a spray effect. Many pneumatic props incorporate this spray effect to startle unsuspecting victims..

Water is actually siphoned up from the bottom hose when air is push into the output hose. So the bottom hose actually goes into a water source. Same principle as an airbrush.

Here is a YouTube video that demonstrates a prop using one

Stained Glass drop panel/window

A stained glass window will be constructed from Styrofoam board on top of ½ inch plywood. It will be cut and shaped to look like an aged church window and painted to give it a limestone/stucco look. Due to the cost, we will not simulate the translucent stained window effect using Plexiglas. See pictures below.

From Heidi

Right now I am sourcing parts for 3 spitters.  (Kirby 2 - Mike 1)  If we need more, just let me know by Monday, I was shooting for a spitter that was less than $25.

Here is what I have found so far:

Solenoids $15.99 ea   Ebay

We need some type of check valve $2-3.  This will keep any water from back flowing unto the solenoid.  We could use one similar to one used in fish tank airlines.  I was thinking something like the picture attached.  I found these for about $2 (plus s/h) from Poweraire. I am checking with my brother to see if he has any or any local sources - he is a fish guy.

Air & water line - $2-3

Here is a YouTube video of a guy building one that is a tube cut and fit inside another tube then taped together:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLb73HQ1V3U

The one that I have has a nozzle (similar to the picture attached) I found the nozzles for around $7 and have ordered a few.  If you do not want to use a nozzle - no problem.

If you do, let me know so I can make sure to have enough.  I just think it gives the whole project a finished / more professional look.

If someone has a better source / way of making these, speak up.  I am just copying the one that I have.  It worked all season with out any problems.

Right now, we are looking at $30 with the nozzle, $22 - 23 without.

From Jose

On my end for the drop window build I will have all major tools on site. However, for the foam shaping if you'd like to bring your own rasps, course files that should be just about it. Of course working with foam and finishing offers many different approaches. My main objective is to have drawings and pieces already cut and ready for assembly for the drop panel. I am looking at a finished piece to measure about 24" wide by an optional height of up to eight feet. So, whether or not if would fit in the vehicles for transport home is the thing to consider if fully assembling the project. But, it can always be a kit to take with you. I am not looking at any cost for anyone for this build. I have material, which we were able to obtain through a donation last year so we will use that at no cost to the haunt.

I hope everyone is ready for an exciting day and tons of fun! I know I am, can't wait to get everyone together again.
